Sports Days18 June 2025 (by admin) |
We have been monitoring the weather forecast this week in preparation for our Sports Days. As you will know the weather this week is set to reach temperatures in the high twenties. For this reason, we have taken extra precautions to ensure children’s safety. Nursery, Reception and Key Stage One Sports Day will go ahead as planned, with some slight changes to race lengths. All children will sit under the large trees which provide a significant amount of shade.
We have made some minor changes to our Key Stage Two Sports Day to ensure that children will not be sitting outside for unnecessarily long periods of time. Year 3 and Year 4 children will complete their races from approximately 1:15pm – 2pm and Year 5 and Year 6 children will complete their races from approximately 2pm- 2:45pm. Again children will remain under the trees when they are not racing.
All children will have access to their water bottles which will be continually filled up. Our priority is always children’s safety and we feel the measures we have put in place will allow us to still run our Sports Days safely. We also recognise the importance of school events such as sports day and want to give the children (and families) the opportunity to show the skills that they have been working so hard on!
We respectfully ask that all spectators remain in the allocated parent area at all times, and do not cross the track. If school staff recognise that children are becoming dysregulated, they will support them to try to access the day with their peers. If they feel that a child needs some time away, they will bring them back up to school. If you see your child leave the event, please walk up to the main office and a member of staff will meet you there.
May we please remind all parents/carers that all children are required to have a sun hat in school. In addition please send your child with sun cream to reapply at lunch time.
