Reading events in school25 February 2019 (by admin) |
Please find listed below the exciting reading events we have coming up in school.
Reading Book Amnesty – Please search at home for any book which belongs to school and return them as soon as they have been read, to be swapped for a new book. Our book shelves are looking very depleted due to the large numbers of home reading and library books which are yet to be returned to school. Your child is encouraged to have one home reading book and one library book at home at any time. Thank you for your support in this.
Book swap live – From now until World Book Day on 7th March, please bring in any children’s books that your child has finished reading, in a neat condition, to be swapped for a ‘new’ book.
World Book Day – Thursday 7th March. Please come to school dressed as a favourite book character. A fabulous day of book themed events is planned.
Scholastic Book Fair – Week beginning 18th March. Each evening after school, the book fair will be open in the school library for you to purchase a wide range of quality books. This was an enormous success last year and we know it will be very popular again. It is a great opportunity to spend your World Book Day book tokens at this event too as £1 will be deducted from any book in exchange for a WBD book token. Your child will receive his/ her book token at the end of World Book Day on 7th March.
After school library visits - Please look out for the letter from your class teacher with the date when the school library will be open this half term for you to browse and swap a book with your child. We have recently restocked the library, making choosing a new book even more fun.
Reading Raffle – this is proving to be a great success! Each week, a winning raffle ticket is drawn in assembly for a child who has read at least three times at home the previous week. Fantastic prizes are to be won. Keep reading every one – Be in it to win it!
We would like to thank the many parents who regularly support their children by hearing them read at home and writing a comment and signature in the orange reading record which the children bring home.
